David Shulman was a featured speaker at Towson University’s Music Department Convocation on September 8, 2015. Speaking to an audience of professors, students, and staff, David delivered a presentation on injury prevention for the professional musician. Topics included smart practice techniques, responding to pain, and detecting early signs of overuse injuries. “Like Olympians, musicians are elite athletes,” David said, “It’s just that they use smaller muscles.” David encouraged the students and professors to put in place practice and performance habits that would keep their bodies performing well for the long term.
“David and his team are wonderful. They really take time getting to know you and offer great service. I’ve been to them for recurring back pain many times over the past 3 years.”
As a violinist with a substantial performance schedule, my worst nightmare was coming to fruition: chronic shoulder pain. I could not lift my arm, sleep on my left sides or play the violin without pain. David met my high hopes and even exceeded my expectations. I will always be grateful for David’s help and recommend him highly, especially to musicians!
